Trust Score Algorithm

Complete transparency in expert verification and ranking

Last updated: 1/8/2025

All algorithm updates are announced in our Discord and published on GitHub.

How It Works

Every expert on Unslop earns a Trust Score — a transparent, data-backed measure of their real-world credibility. Instead of hiding behind followers or paid ads, we make the entire scoring system public and open-source.

The algorithm evaluates experts using four components — each weighted to reflect its importance in measuring true expertise.

Proof of Expertise

30%

Verified track record of skills, projects, and experience.

Peer Endorsements

25%

Credibility points from other verified experts on Unslop.

User Ratings

30%

Feedback from learners who've followed their roadmaps.

Completion Rate

15%

Percentage of learners who finish their roadmap — a real-world indicator of clarity and quality.

Detailed Component Breakdown

🧠 Proof of Expertise (30%)
Score based on verified proof of expertise

We start with proof, not promises. Experts submit verifiable evidence of experience — portfolios, public work, credentials, or content. Each proof type carries a specific weight, listed below.

Calculation Method:

Sum of verified proofs weighted by type

Proof Type Weights:

github
25 points
linkedin
15 points
portfolio
20 points
certification
30 points
other
10 points
Maximum possible score: 100
🤝 Peer Endorsements (25%)
Score based on peer endorsements from verified experts

Reputation compounds when peers vouch for you. Each endorsement from another verified expert adds to your score — up to a capped limit to prevent "circle boosting."

Calculation Method:

Number of endorsements from verified experts, capped at max

Points per endorsement:
20
Maximum endorsements counted:
5
Maximum possible score:
100
🌟 User Ratings (30%)
Score based on user ratings of expert's roadmaps

Every learner's rating matters. Instead of focusing on vanity metrics (like followers or views), we care about how useful and actionable a roadmap actually is.

Calculation Formula:

(averageRating / 5) * 70 + (helpfulPercentage * 30)
Minimum ratings required:
3
Maximum possible score:
100
📈 Completion Rate (15%)
Score based on learner completion rates of expert's roadmaps

Clarity creates results. The more learners who complete a roadmap, the more credible the expert behind it becomes.

Calculation Formula:

(completedUsers / totalUsers) * 100
Minimum completions required:
5
Maximum possible score:
100
